Being in a managers role, you often have to juggle several things at once: writing a report while your staff constantly need things from you or answering the phone while preparing a presentation.
Some researchers from the Vanderbilt University in the US have completed a study whereby the have found that multitasking can be done by anyone simply by training your brain. They found that by performing simple exercises like matching syllables to sounds, there was a big improvement in information processing and the ability to juggle multiple tasks at the same time.

It has been reported by Foundation 49 that in Australia, employers will loose about 2% of gross domestic product to absenteeism. Many employers in response to this have come up with some very clever initiatives to get people through the “high sickie” weeks such as during a heat wave.
1. Giving their employees a plant for their desk
2. Having regular performance reviews where you are praised for a job well done and given tons of positive feedback
3. A fifteen minute massage at their desk by a professional massues
4. Wherever possible, sitting people near or by a window for natural light
All of these methods are said to cut absenteeism by up to 20% each. Small initiatives for big results.
