While at work in the office or driving in our cars, the temptation is there to slouch a lot.  This is the slouch that ruins your body. How? Over time, the connective tissue adapts to your slouch thus making that your natural posture. This off course leads to neck pains, back pains and a lot of other complaints.  I spend a lot of time in the car and behind a keyboard and a lot of times I find myself hunched over the keyboard or on the steering wheel. It sometimes is like a habit that I am not even aware of.

I read an article in a magazine the other day with some tips from a strength and conditioning specialist named Rachel Cosgrove.

1. Sit as tall as you can. Like me, it’s important to remind yourself constantly to do this.

2. Tighten your core. This simply means to brace your abs like you are about to be punched in the stomach but remember to breathe normally.

3. Pull your shoulders down and back. Easiest way to do this is to imagine creating as much space between your ears and your shoulders. Try to hold that position.

4. Keep your chest up. Try to imagine there’s a string attached from the ceiling to your chest and that its pulling your chest up at all times.

Try some or all of these to help you get a better posture while doing your day to day job.
