To help foster innovation in your company, you need to take the team approach. Regular team meetings are a good platform to encourage healthy communication in the workplace.

Innovative leaders such as yourself, also ensure that the communication between upper management and everything in between is kept up to date. You have to encourage informal feedback before, during and after any project that your team undertakes. Regular team meetings are important so that you can not only conduct regular brainstorming sessions but give and take feedback on how your project is going. In doing this not only are you engaging your staff to up productivity but, you are welcoming free speech in the workplace and fostering a sense of ownership of the businesses financial success. However, you need to know when to call a business meeting so that you don’t just have meetings for the sake of having meetings.

To foster innovation in your company, you have to question the companies traditional methods of operation. Does the technology that’s in place now reflect what the current trends are? For example, while fax machines are still useful for some tasks, if your company still relies on the old faxstream method for marketing new products, ie sending out hundreds of faxes to numbers in your database, not only is that a costly exercise, but I dare say, a fruitless one too. That was ok in the late 20th century, but we are in the 21st now, so your company needs to keep up. You can have a huge input as  a manager in this area.
